Jeff Stewart will be leaving ACS as its MD over the last ten highly successful years. The Society has now appointed its new MD: Mr Philip Stopford. He says of himself....
"I have been involved in music all my life starting as a chorister at Westminster Abbey in 1986. I was awarded a music scholarship to Bedford School, was Organ Scholar at Truro Cathedral; and read music and was Organ Scholar at Keble College Oxford. I then worked at Canterbury, Chester and Belfast Cathedrals before moving to America to work at an Episcopal Church near New York City. I am now a full time composer, conductor and organist and President of the Leighton Buzzard Festival Singers.
I have trained professional and amateur choirs at all levels, from children’s choirs (choristers) up to and including the Leighton Buzzard Festival Singers for their performance of Handel’s Messiah at All Saints Church in December 2022. As a composer, I am ofen engaged in one-day workshops working with choirs I have not met before, sharing my compositions with the singers who attend."

Philip will start with ACS in September 2025 and we looking forward to working with him over the next phase in the choir's life.
